The ARRI Amira…
Amsterdam IBC has provided much news for our industry, with ARRI announcing the AMIRA Camera.
Aimed squarely at the television doco market, this camera is intended to provide EF, B4 & PL lens mount options, 200 fps, and a small shoulder mount which is totally adjustable for comfort.
Considering the amount of crap required for the Canon C300 camera to gain operator comfort, any camera which allows instant comfort out of the box, is a welcome addition. ARRI have looked closely at the competition and obviously know what a cameraman needs, so they built it!
It is restricted to 1920×1080, does not have RAW capability or DnX….but hey!!
They have promoted this rig to owner operators, but being ARRI, I would expect it to be a very attractive rental camera.
Nutshell has all the PL & EF lenses plus Matte Boxes, Follow focus, etc. I would be keen to hear from anyone with a show where this camera would be required.
